Seek to be the best

“Seek the lofty by reading, hearing and seeing great work at some moment every day. ”
Thornton Wilder (Thorton Wilder was a successful American playwrite and author.)
He makes a very important point. We all need some beauty and a challenge to perform at our best every day.
His suggestion is to read something or look at or listen to something great. Not just good but great.
I think this is good advice for anyone seeking to succeed and if you are ever feeling a little depressed or feeling that work is just getting routine this is a good way to get yourself out of a rut.
You should challenge yourself to do your work better than you have before. I don’t mean that you should punish yourself that your work is not good enough but that although your work is good you should try every day to turn it into a masterpiece.
You can do this in any job that you have to do. If you clean floors make yourself a master of cleaning floors, if you write computer programs then write your code that little bit tighter or neater – be an expert, if you write books then become a master of your trade.
No one should settle for rubbish. No matter what you do you should do it at the very best that you can.
Commit yourself right now to making your work better every day.
