It&#8217;s easy for me during those times to feel very negative about things and this negativity always makes any situation worse. There is a simple technique that works for many people that allows you to get away from the negative feelings pretty easily but it does take a little practice.</p>

<h3>You need to detach yourself from the situation</h3>
<p>Perhaps you find yourself behaving or thinking or feeling in a way that you do not like. Perhaps you find yourself in the grip of a strong negative emotion.</p>
<p>Try to picture such a time in your mind and feel what it is like &#8211; those unpleasant feelings that you are trying to avoid.</p>
<h3>Step away from yourself</h3>
<p>Now you need to imagine that you can step away from yourself in that situation. Imagine you can step outside of your body and observe what is going on.</p>
<p>As you step away from your body you also step away from all the negativity and all those things that are making you feel bad about yourself.</p>
<p>As you step away you are becomming calm and rational. You can see what you were like but now you are going to be different.</p>
<h3>Keep practising to choose a better you</h3>
<p>Now whenever you find yourself in one of those moods that you despise. Whenever you are behaving or thinking in a way you dislike just step away from yourself. Distance yourself from the old you and choose to be a new you.</p>
